Smashing Pumpkins Bassist Exits
Latest hire retires from Corgan's Group
Last summer, SMASHING PUMPKINS singer BILLY CORGAN held auditions to replace drummer JIMMY CHAMBERLIN . . . and ended up hiring a then-19-year-old kid named MIKE BYRNE. Well that apparently went so well that Billy has decided to hold auditions to fill two other spots in the band: Bassist and Keyboardist. (As of right now, the Smashing Pumpkins merely consist of Billy and the little drummer boy. All the other musicians Billy has been working with have been temporary . . . so there isn't any drama with the exiting members.) Billy says anyone is welcome to audition. If you're interested, you have until March 31st to email him a bio, a musical resume, photos, and a performance video.  For more info, including the contact emails, hit up this link http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/pressrelease.php

Alice in Chains Rocks The Stage
Band approaches Show with new Atitude
Alice In Chains is selling out shows across the country and with the band's return to the concert trail comes a new approach.  Drummer Sean Kinney notes that singer William DuVall, guitarist Jerry Cantrell, and bassist Mike Starr are moving around a lot more on stage, and putting on more of a show for the audience -- who can't change their viewpoint.  In addition, both DuVall and Cantrell lend their vocals to the shows and they both take center stage when delivering a vocal part.  DuVall adds, quote, "The show is getting a bit more bigger and more elaborate and we're excited about that, so we're just trying to maximize that potential and keep it interesting for ourselves and the people coming."  Alice In Chains is on tour supporting their latest album "Black Gives Way to Blue" -- the group's first full studio effort in 14 years and their first with DuVall.  The band will be performing in Atlanta, Georgia Thursday night.
