Band Closes out career on a World Tour High Note

It seems that The Scorpions won't be rocking fans "like a hurricane" much longer. The German band has announced via its website that its ending its four-decade run. The band wrote to fans, quote, "We want to end the Scorpions' extraordinary career on a high note. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road." Before the rockers -- whose popularity hit a high point with 1984's "Rock You Like A Hurricane" -- part ways they'll embark on one final trek this Spring. The Scorpions' "Sting and Blackout World Tour 2010" will kick off in March.

Guitarist Rudolf Schenker -- now 61-years-old -- founded The Scorpions in Hanover, Germany in 1965. Schenker has cited The Yardbirds, Pretty Things, and Spooky Tooth as early influences.
