$1000 Grand Prize & A Public Meet & Greet with Real Housewives of NJ Star Melissa Gorga

The Deborah Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of Deborah Heart and Lung Center, is sponsoring a "Deborah Idol" competition to find the best singers in New Jersey. Three preliminary auditions sites are scheduled in August and September, with the finals to be held on Saturday, November 3rd at Pemberton Township High School. Melissa Gorga, star of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and former pediatric patient at Deborah, will be on hand at the finals to meet and greet the public.

There are two divisions for singing: 8-14 years old and 15-25 years old. Preliminary auditions will be a capella and held August 22nd at 5pm at the Enterprise Center at BCC in Mount Laurel, September 9th at 1pm at Silver Ridge Park Westerly in Toms River, and September 12th at 4pm at Pemberton Township High School in Pemberton. All contestants must be pre-registered and the number of contestants per location will be limited. Audition registration is $25, and there will be a $5 fee for the general public to view the preliminaries.

Professional singers, songwriters, and musicians will judge the preliminaries and finals. The top 10 contestants from the preliminaries will move into the finals on November 3rd, where each will have 3-1/2 minutes to wow the judges as they sing to music they bring. One grand prize winner in each division will be awarded a $1,000 prize. Tickets for the Finale are $15.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Deborah Heart and Lung Center, a specialty heart, lung, and vascular hospital, which in 90 years has never billed a patient.
