ZZ Top heads Back to the Limelight
Band Returns with High Profile Activity -New CD & Tour
The members of ZZ Top have an ambitious schedule ahead of them. Billy Gibbons tells Billboard.com that the group is hoping to have its new CD ready to hit stores within the next three months, so the band can launch its tour no later than June. The guitarist admits deadline is more to accommodate an overseas trek, because, quote, "the European window of weather you can get out in is very short." But he says some U.S. dates could be in the works as well. Even if the band doesn't hit the stage on these shores in the coming months, fans will be able to see the group in concert. A ZZ Top live DVD is also on the way this spring. The material is taken from the band's concert last November in the Dallas area. Gibbons notes that they didn't do anything to clean up the project. He describes it as "untouched," adding, quote, "It's full of mistakes, and that's the way we like it." No set release dates or titles for either the CD or DVD have been announced yet.
