Ozzy & Metallica headline a Big One day show In Texas
Ozzy Osbourne's doing something a little different with Ozzfest this year. The 2008 edition isn't a tour, but a one-day event. Ozzfest producer Sharon Osbourne explains they aren't hitting the road this time around because, quote, "Ozzy just finished an eleven-month world tour so I think he deserves a summer off." This is expected to be the heavy metal icon's only U.S. concert this summer. Also on board as co-headliner is Metallica, who'll be making their Ozzfest debut. Other main stage acts include System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian, Hellyeah, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, Shadows Fall, and Apocalyptica, while a tribute to the late Pantera/Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott is also planned. Sevendust will lead the event's second stage. A third stage -- named the Texas stage -- will feature homegrown talent such as Drowning Pool and The Sword. Ozzfest will take over Pizza Hut Park in Dallas on August 9th. Tickets go on sale May 31st.
