In their own words:
"Vextion is New Jersey’s own high energy, high octane, modern rock band straight out of Farmingdale. For nearly three years now, the four-piece has brought their original compositions and charismatic performances all over the state. The band’s modern, yet truly genuine, rock sound has caught on with today’s crowds ranging from middle school, high school, and college crowds, to anyone who just likes great rock music. Founded in 2006 by singer-song writer and guitarist, Kate Ortiz, the band has finally solidified a talented line-up made up of Dann Aquino on lead guitar, Max Orozco on bass, and Rob “bobman” Crowther on Drums. All members have been part of various local acts over the past 5-10 years, with lots of performing experience under their belts. Each of the foursome incorporates their own brand of charisma and personality to form Vextion’s truly unique sound and image.Over just a few years time, Vextion has made major strides within the local music scene and beyond. In 2010, the band reached the semi-finals of the Break Contest battle of the bands. They placed even higher in the Best Buy battle of the bands, becoming one of just six finalists to last throughout a summer long competition. The band has also played for the children of Barnegat Middle School and twice performed at The BlueClaw’s First Energy Park. Vextion has been a featured band on the Wrat 95.9 FM once before, and was also featured in a local spotlight piece in the Aquarian on more than one occasion. Burn Halo, and Michale Graves (of the Misfits) are just some of the national acts Vextion has performed with. Most recently the band turned heads at this year’s Seaside MusicFest capturing the attention of The Musician’s Rock Network. With the help of TMRN and Live and Local, Vextion was chosen to perform at the inaugural day of this year’s Six Flags Fright Fest to a park filled with thousands. Shortly thereafter, Vextion caught the attention of many in the Jersey Shore scene, receiving two Asbury Park Music Award nominations for both front-lady, Kate Ortiz and the band for Top Heavy Rock Act. The foursome continues to rock local hot spots and have become regulars at venues such as the legendary Stone Pony, The Saint, The Brighton Bar, and local colleges. The band has also used their musical acumen to contribute to charitable causes. Vextion played on the Asbury Park Boardwalk last summer in support of the Move for Hunger benefit and have returned to the event this past labor day. This time they showed up with the 501st Legion , a non profit Star Wars themed organization for charities, in tow. In addition, they have appeared on Jammin' TV's telethon for Muscular Dystrophy. The event was held by William Patterson University and broadcast throughout Wayne, NJ on their campus station. Also, to raise awareness and charitable donations for Turner’s Syndrome, Vextion performed at Brookdale Community College. Most recently, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the band has been collecting extra clothing and non-perishable food items at shows. With their debut EP, entitled “What I Am”, Vextion is ready to take their music to the next level. The EP was released on July 29th, 2011, along with a sold-out Vextion headlined release party held at Brookdale Community College. Today, the rock outfit is in the process of recording their very first full-length album. With a constantly growing fan base, and the constant output of new, original songs, Vextion aims to become the face of the local music scene, and has no plans of stopping there".
Be sure to tune into Jersey Rock this Tuesday-Thursday night at 11:30pm to hear their music!
