THE POLICE announced that they'll play their last concert . . . EVER . . . in New York City, but for now, there's no word on when it'll happen.

--The date and venue of the concert won't be revealed until August . . . but the show will serve as a fundraiser for arts programming for public TV stations in New York.

--In a statement, the band said, quote, "We kicked off our very first American tour at CBGB's in 1978 . . . and this summer, 30 years later, our journey will come full circle as we play our final show here in New York City."

--For now, the last confirmed Police show is scheduled for August 5th in Wantagh, which is a suburb of New York City.
