As if Smashing Pumpkins and his other concerns -- including a wrestling company and a memoir -- aren't keeping Billy Corgan busy enough, he opens a tea house, Madame ZuZu's, today (September 13) in Chicago's Highland Park suburb.
The spot will feature a rotating selection of teas from around the world as well as "light vegan pastries from all spheres," and Corgan will be hanging out to play acoustic performances throughout the day.
ZuZu's is described as "a social hub for the community, blending tea drinkers with the arts. Drawing from Corgan's love of music from the 30s, Madame ZuZu's is a Chinoise inspired teahouse found in Paris during this period."
Corgan himself tells us that he wants ZuZu's to be more than a tea equivalent of Starbuck's.
"Sort of set up like a salon-type tea house. It's sort of a meeting of the minds type of place with tea as the central glue."
Corgan also operates the Resistance Pro wrestling company and is writing a book he describes as "a spiritual memoir."
Meanwhile, he's getting ready to hit the road with Smashing Pumpkins to promote the group's latest album, "Oceania," on October 10 in Seattle.
