Seether fans only have a couple more months to wait for the group's long-awaited new album, "Isolate and Medicate." The trio has announced a July 1 release date for the set, with the first single, "Words As Weapons," due out May 1. Seether also posted a humorous short "Countdown to May Day" teaser online with the three band members promising "some big news on May 1st," though it's not known if that will be anything other than the single. The album will be Seether's follow-up to 2011's "Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray," and the group has been recorded it since the end of January with Brendan O'Brien. Seether frontman Shaun Morgan tells us the album is "a little heavier than we've done before, but by the same token it's a little more poppy" and adds that the group plans to keep it fairly tight:
"I think we're gonna do an album of 10 tracks this time around, and we'll have a couple extra...Labels always want B-sides and things like that. We wanted to consolidate it down to 10 tracks and make sure it was 10 really strong songs from start to finish and there's nothing on the album that feels like filler...We're putting a lot of work into this and a lot of thought into everything." Seether is currently on tour and will host its second Rise Above Fest on May 10 in Bangor, Maine, with Avenged Sevenfold, Hellyeah, Motorhead and others to benefit SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education).
