Soundgarden has added another "Superunknown" performance to its schedule, on June 2 at Webster Hall in New York City. The catch? You have to be a Citi cardmember in order to get tickets to the show, which will cost $19.94 (commemorating the year "Superunknown" was released) and going on sale May 21. The group also performed "Superunknown" in its entirety during March for the iTunes Festival at this year's South By Southwest Music Conference & Festival, and frontman Chris Cornell and band bassist Ben Shepherd tell us that it's been illuminating to prepare the album for performance in its entirety: Chris Cornell and Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden on performing "Superunknown" in its entirety by GMI Rock News Shepherd: It's a trip. We realized how many different things we have to do to play this live. Cornell: We have guitar changes, not for bass but for guitar, between every single song except for one. Shepherd: I think I've got a couple breaks, or a couple, three son gs in a row where I don't have to do anything... Cornell: When you start from the tunings it seems like a more disjoined album than it really is, when you play it in order, 'cause each tuning has its own personality. The whole album seems to flow naturally, but when you kind of look at it closer, it seems less fluid in a way." On June 3, Soundgarden will re-release "Superuknown" in two special versions: a two-CD deluxe edition package with a second disc of demos, outtakes, rehearsals, B-sides and more; and a five-CD Super Deluxe Edition that includes even more rare and unreleased material as well as a Blu-ray Audio 5.1 SurroundSound mix of the album and a hardbound book. A vinyl version of "Superunknown" will also be released. Soundgarden kicks off a co-headlining tour with Nine Inch Nails on July 19 in Las Vegas after a European tour that includes shows with Black Sabbath.
