We have a funny feeling this quote from Jerry Cantrell will lead to a number of “teen spirited” debates. In a recent interview with Cleveland.com, Cantrell was asked about Nirvana’s recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and said he, “was surprised to see them go in before Pearl Jam.” He elaborated, “They went in for ‘Bleach,’ which wasn’t a big record till ‘Nevermind’ became a big record.” Okay, sure…Cantrell may not have been aware that a band is eligible for induction 25 years after their first release (“Bleach” was released in 1989.) However, this quote is still telling in reference to which Seattle band he prefers (Alice in Chains excluded, obviously) and only helps support that the “Nirvana vs. Pearl Jam” debate is the “Beatles vs. Rolling Stones” debate of Generation X.
