Leave it to Gene Simmons to be completely unashamed of being rich, rich…richer than hell. In a recent interview with The San Diego Union Tribune, Simmons spouted off quite the number of quotable sound bites (surprise!) including, “I have been part of the 1 percent for the past 30 years” and “The 1 percent provides all the jobs for everybody else.” However, my personal favorite would have to be “Try being nice to rich people. I don’t remember the last poor person who gave me a job.” One could argue that poor people (aka: KISS fans that don’t own Fortune 500 companies or aren’t in the 1 percent) have actually helped give Gene a “job” as a rock star by buying albums, concert tickets and countless pieces of KISS merchandise over the past 40 years, but hey…I guess “The Demon” didn’t take that into consideration. Say what you want about Gene Simmons (and there’s plenty to say), but he’s always been completely transparent in his desire to make as much money as humanly possible and has been unapologetic about his mission since day one. If he says things like this in interviews for free, it makes me wonder what’s going to be in his new business book ME, INC, which comes out this October. Knowing Gene, I bet he saved some of his best material for profit.
