After countless rumors about when U2’s 13th studio will come out, the band have confirmed that their next album will, in fact, be released by the end of this year. A spokesperson for U2 told Rolling Stone that, “We’ve always said an album is expected this year,” which is essentially refuting reports that the band were pushing their album release date to 2015, in order to work with mega-produced Paul Epworth. In the meantime, the band not revealing additional details is only lending itself to rumors that the band might do a surprise release, like Beyonce did with her last album. And if a source that spoke with the Irish Times can be believed, fans should expect a “single in September, album September-October, tour announced December, first date April next year.”
