You can all join us in saying: “it’s about time!”
2012 has proved to be the year that the Canadian mega-legends, Rush, finally got some recognition.
After making the list of the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees back in October (after 15 years of eligibility), Rush has been honored yet again.
On November 20th, members Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, were inducted into Guitar Center’s Hollywood RockWalk on Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard.
Chairman of the RockWalk, Dave Weiderman explain that, “Not only is Rush extraordinary as a band, but each member is incredibly talented in their own right. This group has consistently delivered skilled musicianship, experimental drive and diverse rock to fans worldwide.”
And not only is their music a little different; Lifeson’s acceptance speech was also unique…to say the least.
Lifeson joked, “On behalf of Geddy and Neil, I’m great!” He went on to inform the audience that they were the ones who were lucky to have Rush, and then made the correction, “I mean, we’re really lucky we’re here.”
We send our congratulations and thanks to them, for all the killer music and sounds they’ve given us over the years. Next, they’re coming for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
