Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has added two more rock legends to his formidable supergroup performing in Utah at the Sundance Film Festival to kick off the premiere of his upcoming documentary about the famous Sound City recording studio.

Rolling Stone reports that Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks will join an ensemble of musicians such as Rick Springfield, Grohl and the Foo Fighters, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor as part of the ‘Sound City Players’ to celebrate the film onstage.

As Grohl’s directorial debut, the documentary, aptly named Sound City, will unravel the storied heritage of the Van Nuys, California studio through interviews with numerous musicians and producers. Also expect old footage that may reveal some of the more immoral choices made by its guests within its walls.

"As a first-time director, I am humbled to be able to share my passion for songwriting and storytelling with this incredible cast of legendary musicians, as seen through the extraordinary story of America's greatest unsung recording studio, Sound City," said Grohl in a Dec. 2012 statement. "Being included in this group of artists is a true honor, and the Sundance Film Festival is the perfect place to premiere a film about craft, integrity and passion for art. I am over the moon!"

As the setting for a plethora of recording milestones ranging from Rage Against the Machine’s self-titled debut album to the ‘80s era of timeless hits from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Sound City has righteously earned its place in rock-lore. Grohl intends to make this his case at the Sundance Film Festival on January 18th.

Tickets to the concert, which is set to take place at Park City Live on the evening of the premiere, have unsurprisingly sold out since going on sale yesterday.
