The Red Hot Chili Peppers have rolled out the latest bonus track from the sessions for its latest album, "I'm With You."
"In Love Dying" has just been made available at the group's official website and on iTunes and weighs in at eight minutes, with a decidedly jammy flavor. And drummer Chad Smith tells us that type of open-ended approach comes easily to the quartet:
"We just feel real comfortable, man. We can stretch out on our songs...We're not a jam band. We're not a jazz band that plays to head and everybody takes a solo. We have structured songs, but in those structures there's room for improvisation, and we just stretch out and listen to each other and play off each other and have little musical conversations, and we've always done that."
"In Love Dying" is part of a series of 18 songs the Chili Peppers recorded during the "I'm With You Sessions" that weren't included on the original album. Three more installments are planned.
The Chili Peppers hit the road again on Tuesday (February 5) with a one-off show in Cape Town, South Africa. The group has just five other shows announced so far for the year, including the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on April 14 and 21 in Indio, California.
