Could a Van-Hagar reunion be on the horizon?
It looks like Sammy Hagar is at least up for the possibility, according to a statement he gave while being interviewed by Vegas Rocks! TV last month,
In response to a question about what he would say if he ran into Eddie Van Halen, the Red Rocker responded, “Well, right now I'd say, ‘Wow. Great. I've seen some pictures of you recently. You look like you're healthy and doing great. I'm really proud of you and I'd like to see you continue doing that. Here's my phone number. Call me up if you wanna hang and just have some fun and goof off.’”
Hagar went on to state, “I wouldn't say, 'Hey, let's get together and do it again,' because you would have to do that slow, because I would never do it again under the last circumstances. But I would do it again under different circumstances. So it'd be like that.”
The ‘last circumstances’ the singer is referring to is Van Halen’s 2004 “The Best of Both Worlds” tour, in which he and David Lee Roth reunited with the group to play songs from both of their eras.
Also on that tour was former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, and Hagar joked in the interview that he would pass along Anthony's telephone number along with his own for a full-on reunion. Hagar and Anthony now play together in the supergroup, Chickenfoot.
The current Van Halen lineup, which features Roth on vocals and Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen on bass, are set to play several Japanese tour dates beginning on June 18 and running through June 26. The band will also headline Australia's Stone Music Festival with Aerosmith on April 20 and play at the Rock USA festival in Oshkosh, WI on July 20.
