After a year of reveals and changes, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has one more surprise for fans before 2013 closes out.
The rocker has recruited some of R&B’s most notable to join NIN on their Tension 2013 tour, including iconic bassist Pino Palladino (The Who, D’Angelo) and Rolling Stones’ backup singers Sharlotte Gibson and Lisa Fischer, according to Rolling Stone.
The new lineup, which is rounded out by longtime NIN collaborator Alessandro Cortini, keyboardist Josh Eustis, guitarist Robin Finck and drummer Ilan Rubin, made its debut on Saturday (September 28) in St. Paul, MN.
Previously, the 2013 version of NIN consisted of Reznor, Rubin and Cortini, along with guitarist Adrian Belew (King Crimson) and bassist Eric Avery (Jane’s Addiction), though the latter two dropped out of the project due to personal and scheduling reasons, respectively.
Nine Inch Nails is currently touring in support of Hesitation Marks. Released on September 2, the album marks the band’s first since 2008’s The Slip, and has sparked singles such as “Came Back Haunted” and “Copy of A.”
