Top 5 Rockers We Lost Too Soon

7/26/2012

"Live Fast and Die Young" is a saying that can be associated with the rock and roll lifestyle. Unfortunately, such living has resulted in the loss of some of the greatest talent to ever grace the music industry. Here's our list of the Top 5 Rockers We Lost Too Soon.

1. Kurt Cobain
Considered by many to be on best songwriters of his time, Cobain ended his life at the age of 27 in Seattle with a shotgun in 1994.

2. Ronnie Van Zandt, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines
During the height of Lynyrd Skynrd's success in 1977, the band suffered the tragic loss of three of its founding members when their charter plane crashed in a forest in Gillsburg, Mississippi.

3. Jimi Hendrix
1970 saw the loss of many great figures in Rock & Roll, including Hendrix at the age of 27. He died in London, one month after performing at the Isle of Wright concert.

4. Sid Vicious

As the bassist for the influential punk band, the Sex Pistols, Sid Vicious died of a heroine overdose when he was only 21. His former girlfriend Nancy Spungen, who he had been accused of killing, died mysteriously months before.

5. Jim Morrison
Another member of the 27 Club, Morrison died in Paris. Because there was no autopsy performed, to this day there is still speculation on how this singer, songwriter and poet died.
